Paul McCartney

Album Notes

Following another globe-straddling world tour (captured on the Tripping The Live Fantastic album), Paul relished the thought of recording songs from his catalogue in a more stripped back setting. Recorded in a North London hideaway as part of MTV's Unplugged series, the taping of the show lead to a light bulb moment for Paul. "I figured that as Unplugged would be screened around the world there was every chance that some bright spark would tape the show and turn it into a ‘bootleg' so we decided to bootleg the show ourselves. We heard the tapes in the car driving back. By the time we got home, we'd decided we'd got an album – albeit one of the fastest I've ever made." The show was notable for the debut TV performance of I Lost My Little Girl, the first song Paul wrote at the tender age of 14 years old, as well as a cover of Bill Withers' Ain't No Sunshine, featuring Paul on drums.
