One of our favourite things to do here in the PaulMcCartney.com office is read through fan posts from Paul's gigs. Searching the hashtag #OutThere brings together literally thousands of happy fan photos and memories of Paul's tour.
Each show on the tour is special, but one we're especially looking forward to is Thursday's gig at San Francisco's Candlestick Park. Paul's 'Farewell to Candlestick: The Final Concert' will mark the last-ever concert in the iconic stadium, also the venue where The Beatles played their final date on 29th August 1966.
To mark the occasion Paul and his band have filmed a special message. Check it out below:
If you're lucky enough to be heading to this concert, concert producer Another Planet Entertainment is encouraging fans to plan ahead – this is going to be a busy gig! They are advising fans to arrive early and use public transportation or carpool to the venue. Heavy traffic is expected in and around the event area so motorists should allow for extra travel time.
The Candlestick Park Box Office / Will Call will open at 3:00pm and is located at Gate F. Parking Lots open at 3:00pm and Doors open to the venue at 5:00pm. The concert will start at approximately 8:00pm and will be over by 11:30pm. Only taxis and Muni services will be allowed to drop off and pick up at the venue.
The SFMTA (Muni) will provide a special service for the concert. Service runs from 4:30 pm until after the end of the concert. Buses will be positioned to quickly load and transport customers and are encouraged to preload their Clipper cards in advance. The 'Out There' tour, as always, features music from the most beloved catalog in popular music, as Paul performs songs spanning his entire career – as a solo artist, member of Wings and of course as a Beatle. The set list will also include material from Paul’s most recent studio album NEW, a global hit upon its release last year. The McCartney live experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity; in just three hours some of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music are relived; music which for many has shaped the very soundtrack of their lives. Featuring Paul’s band of the last 10+ years – Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) – the show never disappoints.
And if you are going along, remember to use the hashtag #OutThere so we can see how much fun you're having!
