Album-McCartney II

Album Notes

McCartney II was the third solo album from Paul and the first since the formation of Wings in 1971. It marked a significant change in Paul's sound, relying heavily on synthesisers and studio experimentation for the first time.  As Paul said at the time, "I made a couple of albums, the normal way you make albums [in a studio], and I felt like doing it the homemade way again because I quite like recording like that – where I play all the instruments. It's almost like a hobby to do it that way." Recorded in the summer of 1979, when the future of Wings remained uncertain, the album was conceived at home on Paul's farm in Scotland. The first song recorded for the project was the self-explanatory Check My Machine (eventually included as a b-side on the Waterfall single, which reached the UK top 10), which included Paul experimenting with his new toys. Work on the album was halted to make way for a Wings UK tour, but once it was decided that Wings was no more the album was finally released in May 1980, spending two weeks at number 1. 2011 saw McCartney II remastered and reissued as part of the Paul McCartney Archive Collection, personally supervised by Paul. Available in Standard, Special, Vinyl and Deluxe editions, featuring high resolution audio and including rare rehearsal footage of 'Coming Up' and the new video for the unreleased track 'Blue Sway'.

Thank you for sharing your music with the world and specially with Mexico!! We desperatly needed a reason to smile and you have given us a great one; your magical music that is capable of joining us in one thought believing that "All we need is love".

My father is a musician and as a present we gave him a ticket of your show at Azteca stadium, the look of happiness on his face when he returned has been one of the greatest gifts I ever recieved and its all beacuse of you... As Isaac Bashevis Singer once said “The greatness of art is not to find what is common but what is unique” and in the uniqueness of your art you have proven that true talent stands the test of time.

Thank you once again for your love and respect for each and every one of your fans, we will love till the end of times...

I can recall only three times in 50 years when there were so many people - who went there because they wanted and not because they had to - at Zocalo that others could not get into the square: when John Paul II held a mass at the Cathedral in January 1979, at the end of a march for peace and against kidnappings in 2004, and last Thursday for Paul´s concert. What an incredible night.... and I was there !!!

Hi Paul! I would like to thank you for the most wonderful concert ever, May 10th 2012 at zocalo Mexico city, I was moved into tears when you dedicated a special song for all mothers there, and guess what, I was one of those mothers, taken there by my so very loving son and daughter.
Thank you so much!!!! =D
