You Gave Me the Answer - A morning in the life

For someone whose life has taken him from Liverpool clubs to stadium stages around the world, fans are often curious about what happens when there isn't a tour to play or an album to record.

After all, what does a typical morning look like for Paul McCartney?

While no two days are ever quite the same, Paul admits he's a creature of habit when it comes to starting the day. Whether at home or travelling, there are a few simple rituals he likes to stick to whenever he can.

This month's question comes from a fan who wanted to know exactly how Paul begins his day.

PaulMcCartney.com asks: How does a day in the life of Paul McCartney typically begin? Do you wake up early? What's the first thing you like to do every day?

Paul: I'm pretty sort of ritualistic. I have a routine, though it varies sometimes because of where I am or what I'm doing, which is okay, it's nice.

Normally, if it's just me, straightforward, it's getting up - not too early. Depending on what I'm going to do, if I've got to come to a gig or something, then that all controls what time you have to get up.

But yeah, I get up and then I'm a breakfast guy. Some people can't handle breakfast, they just will have nothing till lunch or maybe a coffee or something. But I'm not.
I like fruit, a bowl of fruit. I like cereal and berries - strawberries, blueberries, raspberries. That's me.

And that's it really till lunch. That's my morning routine. I'll do that and, if there's a newspaper, I will read the newspaper and stuff like that. Just normal stuff.

But yeah, I'm a breakfast guy rather than a nothing-but-a-coffee guy.

So, it turns out that Paul starts his day much like the rest of us: a good breakfast, a flick through the morning news, and a calm start before whatever the day brings.
